The Research Institute of Northeast Asian Geopolitical Economics at Jilin University was founded in April 2010, which is a non-physical researchinstitute relying on the Northeast Asian Studies College at Jilin University and School of Public Administration at Jilin University. The institute is one of the key research bases of philosophy and social sciences in Jilin Province. Integrating the researchefforts of geopolitics, regional economics, international relations, the institute conducts comprehensive and interdisciplinary studies. Currently there are 15 researchers, including 7 professors, 7 associate professors and 1 assistant professor. The strategic position of the institute is to base on Northeast Asia, outlook on Asia-Pacific and expand to the whole world. The institute pays close attention to the significant changes of political economy in the Northeast Asian Region,carries out strategic thinking with the global view, and plans China’s future development in the Northeast Asian Region and even the whole world. The target of the institute is to search the fusion and innovation of theories, andto strengthen the scientization and standardization of empirical studies. With the theoretic framework of international political economics, the institute integrates the disciplines of geopolitics, geo-economics and regional economics to create the interdisciplinary advantage, in order to establish an academic platform, a strategic center and a mental space for domestic and international research on the Northeast Asian geopolitical economics.
